Society's Influence

It seems as though status is a main issue to teens and society. The need to feel accepted by others in order to be the center of attention, and that need to be distinguished greatly from everyone else is a strong force that exposes itself to nearly all people in society whether or not your an adult in society or a teen in highschool. We spend most of our years in life changing our appearance or more commonly social status just to have people accept you. Being well-known can almost seem to complete an emptyness that we feel.
Social status may not always in fact be as fulfilling as it may seem. I do agree that we all have the need to feel wanted yet when is enough, enough? Personally, I've seen many situations when the elevation of status has brought upon many other issues. Status was an all-time high in society especially where I had lived. Our town is called snob-town because the distinctively high presence of expensive homes, expensive cars, and six-figure incomes. However, I began to realize that status was important. It all depended on the make of your car, where you lived, and your job. This kind of status would have got you anywhere in life. People usually create a certain personality that is diverese from their own, and they must always have that particular personality all the time to keep up their prevalent focus from others. This can usually be seen as a person who has an high-paying job or a person whose appearance gets them what they want. During the process in becoming more recognized, some end up hurting others for their own means of reaching that point. .
There shouldn't be a need to have social status/popularity in society, there may be a few benefits, but it never lasts for long. I find that the many middle class people in society feel very content with how they are because they know that people are interested in them for who they really are, and they don't have to put on a "face" for anyone.
