Throughout my life I've encountered many different theologies and worldviews, however, somehow I've never heard anybody confessing that it is the faith of disciples, which actually is responsible for the resurrection of Jesus. Well, it is an interesting claim and I would be happy to hear some arguments from that point of view; however, even then I guess I would hardly believe it. Yes, I must admit, it is a nice interpretation of what has happened. It is sort of gives a credit for a miracle to a person, and explains the mystery of resurrection to a skeptic. It even might encourage a person to have a faith that moves the mountains, which is certainly a good thing. However, if resurrection were just a buy-product of disciples" faith, he whole story and fundament of faith would fall apart. .
Though it might be convenient to believe in disciples" faith, but let's face a reality. How do disciples look like after Jesus was crucified? Do we see strong, full of faith people of God, who are confident in their calling and know the truth? More likely, it is quite the opposite. After Jesus was arrested, their vision and dreams have crushed; they were perplexed, not knowing to whom to believe and what to believe: " we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel". Only fear ruled the actions of disciples. Didn't they know what was going to happen after Jesus" crucifixion? Jesus told them about His future many times, but what disciples saw brought only fear and uncertainty, which has wiped all their memory. They certainly didn't look like people who have faith especially in something unusual.
Probably one of the reasons that disciples couldn't believe and fully understand the prophesy about Jesus" resurrection is because they didn't know it is possible. The history of religion didn't contain any accounts of someone raised before the end of the world. Therefore, any news about resurrection was accepted in the light of belief system of that time.
