Carbs or low Carbs?

Throughout time many people try to watch there weight. They try all kinds of pills and diets but the most common form of this is "counting carbs"and eating low Carbohydrate foods. disguised in meals labeled "Low carb", "Carb Lite","Carb Smart" and "Carb Free". But by doing that arises a problem. The problem is that there is no official definition of "low carbohydrate". .
The UFDA defines "Low Fat" to be 3 grams or less per serving and "Low sodium" at 140 Mg or less per serving. A lot of consumers get confused first by not knowing exactly what any of the terms mean and second by counting only the carbohydrates and not the total calories and carbohydrates., but no where to be found is an official definition of low carbohydrate. .
The issue of low carbohydrate is one of the issues that will be brought up on Feb 12 when the FDA's obesity working group reports to the agency's commissioner. This could lead to the process of requesting public comment, writing regulations and go as far as even requiring new labels to be put on products claiming to be low carbohydrate. Many people are behind this. For instance the Grocery Manufactures of America asked the FDA to provide guidance on companies that claim to manufacture low carbohydrate foods even though there products contain sugar as main ingredient.
With that arises a new problem. Many of the people that diet are confused as to which carbohydrates should be counted. Many people count total carbohydrates but others count only the net effective carbohydrate. The net effective carbohydrates are calculated by most dieters by subtracting the grams of fiber and the grams of sugar alcohols from the total carbohydrates. They do this because they claim that fiber is not digested and that the sugar alcohol don't count because they don't effect blood sugar levels they way regular sugar or other carbohydrates do. .
Most traditional dietitians say that cutting carbohydrates is only a fad and with time will pass.
