Morals and Poker

Parents often observe a sport that their son or daughter enjoys, but do not share his or her enthusiasm. My parents discouraged me from playing high school football during my senior year. I was told that football was too dangerous; there was a possibility that I could suffer a fatal injury. Who wishes for their teenager to be crippled for life?.
For those young men and women whose parents disagree with their particular choice of sport; I suggest poker. After all, poker is America's past time. However, for every person that claims baseball as America's past time, another states that poker is unethical. The truth of the matter is that more people play poker than baseball, but more people watch baseball than play poker. Which seems more interesting, watching a sport or playing? .
Poker rewards it's participants for being patient and making the correct decisions, yet some consider poker unethical. I believe that patience is a virtue, and making correct decisions is a key to living a successful, morally sound life. .
Some people think that poker isn't a sport, or an ethical activity to take part in, because poker is considered to be a form of gambling. Contrary to the beliefs of many people, poker is not a game of luck. Most successful poker players possess a great deal of mathematical intelligence, which gives them an edge. Knowing the odds on a hands winning potential is requirement for being a good poker player. It also requires physical stamina and self control to sit at a table for possibly hours at a time, waiting for a winning hand. .
I do regret losing $300 at a time while playing poker online, but I accept that. Poker has taught me to accept circumstances as they rise, and play the cards I"m dealt. Poker has also taught me that you can't win if you never play. Effort is a prerequisite for being successful. The bottom line is that you only live once, and if you never take a chance, then you may end up dieing with a lot of regrets.
