Stony brook school

I was so flabbergasted I had my mouth open for about two minutes just looking around the place at the tall buildings and the different types of cars and people in this big and beautiful country. .
             When people come to this country from another country they seem to get caught up in the wrong things and forget where they were coming from. They forget the reason they came here in the first place. The reason why they left where they were born and where they grew up to come to this land. Which I call the land of opportunity. That was the case for me. Between the first time I flew in a plane and the first time I saw so many cars eight years passed and I have made the worst decisions of my 18 years on gods earth. Prior to my entrance to Thomas Jefferson high school I was so sure that I hand figured out what it was that I need to do to do very well in high school. I was very sure until I joined the track team. Its hard for a person to understand how track and field can put ones academic strive in grave jeopardy. Well I put mine in grave jeopardy. I was a wonderful athlete who ran 400s, 800s, and 1600s. But the effort and dedication I was putting towards track It was not being reflected in my academics.
             Track and Field was paramount in my life and I held it sacrosanct above everything even my academics. To me it was all about a 65 once I got a 65 and I passed that was all I needed. Track and field was my bread and butter I thought that with track I could get to any college I wanted to go. I have just come to know that I was thinking very wrong and if I had continued my path I would go nowhere. I paid for my mistake dearly with what I call the lowest average I have ever seen in my life. For two straight years I saw only an average of 75. An average that was not reflecting my true potential. Why was my average so low? It was because I spent too much time running and less time studying. While I was running 1:56 in the 800m and 4:30 in the 1600m I was not thinking of the travesty I was putting myself into in terms of average and in terms of going to college not just any college the best college possible.
