Throughout the drama, The Crucible, the rituals of the girls of Salem, Massachusetts are tended to be culpable of witchcraft. However, the story is changed when the actions of others becomes redirected to someone else.
The girls of Salem, Massachusetts were well-organized when it came to saving themselves from being accused of witchcraft. For instance, when Tituba (the slave), became convicted of bringing the devil out. Then, all the girls began to reveal the cryptic things that went on in the woods that night. Afterward, Reverend Hale questions Tituba who bewitched her. Then, the girls hesitate as they all start yelling things like, "I saw Sarah Good with the devil." As the trial began to start, the girls had it all planned to perfection. When court was in session the girls would act hysterically when each of the individual's who were suspected of witchcraft were taken into court on whether or not they pleaded to confess or not. As each person who was prosecuted of witchery, the girls defended themselves by testifying that they (the one accused) would come into each of the girl's rooms at night and send spirits from the devil to touch them at night. For this purpose, to defend themselves without anyone betraying them, they worked up a plan with each other to indict others in the case they get caught.
Abigail Willams had many intentions of getting what she wanted regardless of what it took. On the first day, Abigail mentioned Elizabeth Proctor as having unusual things in her house such as, "poppets." With this said, it could in fact make her a suspect. Of all the people in court during the time she was convicted of being held for witchery; only one person such as Abigail Williams would have been suspicious enough to bring up her name and convict her. Abigail, however, still has feelings about John Proctor, Elizabeth's husband. Elizabeth goes with the police in the precaution that she might be convicted with the findings of the poppet in the house.
