Proposal

"Mordecai Richler was the quintessential Canadian man of words, and his loss leaves us grasping for words that can do justice to his importance in Canada's artistic landscape." (Jean Chretien).
Jean Chretien the Ex-Prime Minister of Canada, delivered the most gracious tribute on hearing the death of Mordecai Richler. A novelist and journalist, screenwriter and editor, Richler is acclaimed to be one of the most contemporary and influential writers of his generation. His novels are mainly filled with humour and satire. Most of his novels are based on important human values, it is portrayed and conveyed to us through his characers. He began working on The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1959) soon after the publication of A Choice of Enemies. His novel The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz was made into a critically acclaimed motion picture in 1974. It received international acclaims. Many of his accolades include 2 Governor General's Awards (1968, 1971), a Screenwriters Guild of America Award (1974) and a Ruth Schwartz Children's Book Award (1976).
The Novel The Apprenticeship of David Kravitz which is set up on St. Urban Street in the Jewish ghetto of Montreal, is about the life of a young Jewish kid; Duddy Kravitz whose life revolved around his grandfather saying, "A man without a land is nothing!" Duddy Kravitz is said to be one of the most magnetic anti heroes in Canadian fiction. I am curious to learn his approach to his grandfather saying, then the road he chooses to pursue his dreams and aspiration to be something, his ethics and the worldview he follows. I am eager to see if there are any similarity between Duddy and myself and the People of today. I feel the novel is going to be very interesting, as it will, definitely capture the reader's imagination.
