Fiction: Night That Changed My Life

It was nothing more than two big mutating circles floating around, when one talked to me. "Can you see me?- Asked one of them. The circle, now glowing bright yellow, puzzled me and the only words I remember muttering that morning were, "I'll pick you up around 10 and we'll go to IHOP."" That's when the circles started to make sense to me; they created the shape of two people standing over me. A doctor and my priest. When I look back at that night I realize how important its really is to have faith in a higher power. My experience truly was a nightmare.
Friday was payday. This day I held most sacred of all--it was party time. As soon as I cashed my check I rushed home to shower and hit the streets. The cold was so unbearable that night and the sky was glowing orange like a slow burning coal. It seemed like a good night to spend with friends. One of the girls I was going to see that night, I've had an eye on for a little while, so to make an impression I took out my dad's BMW. I know some bar owners in the Chicago area through my dad, so it was easy to find a place where they would serve me and my friends. A little European style café, that was great and, since I had been there before, I knew I would get good service. .
After I had picked up my friend George, a tall guy with kind of a perverse sense of humor, we headed to get the girls, Nicole and her ugly friend Michelle. To be honest, the only reason I invited George was so that Michelle would have someone to keep her busy while I put the moves on Nicole. After arriving we sat down next to the bar, opposite the entrance. The interior walls of the rectangular room were light with a transparent green neon glow coming down from the ceiling which flowed into the round glass tables with the outer edge glowing the same color. The bar formed a big L shape at the opposite end of the entrance and had 4 soft neon red striped going across the bottom, two middle, and one top.
