Music off the Internet

Should downloading music off the internet be against the law? I do not think it should be. Getting free music off the internet introduces people to new artists. The artists make more money off of concerts than people buying CD's. Finally, there are several ways that this problem can be solved, that would benefit both sides.
To begin with getting free music off the internet introduces people to new artists. Most CD's cost between $15 and $20. Very few people are willing to spend that much money to get music from someone they have never listened to before. If a person finds music for free on the internet they may decide to listen to it. They may even find a musician they really like. Then they may go buy a CD or go to one of their concerts. Also, when you go and buy a CD you have to pay for many songs just to get the one you want. On the internet you only get what you want. Another point is that it is much easier to go to your computer than go to a music store to get the music.
Next, artists make more money off of concerts than CD's. One of the major reasons people want music downloading to stop is so the artists do not go out of business.
However, according to Music Wars: Open Mike on Tech TV, most artists only get about four percent of the money made on CD's. They earn most of their money by doing concerts. In this case it is not the musicians who would be going out of business. People who download free music may take the money they save on music and go to a concert. If this happens than the artist would make more money.
Finally, there are ways that this problem can be solved. One way this problem can be solved is if the law is changed so the music on the internet is not as high of quality as on CD's. This way if people want a good copy they have to go and buy the music. Also, if they would charge a membership fee to the websites where the free music is found, the artists could get a portion of it.
