Almost every character in this book plays a significant role in the plot. One character that is especially notable is The Great Gatsby himself, who shows mystery, generosity, and determination. .
Although Jay Gatsby seems wealthy, eccentric, and sociable, he held qualities that contradicted his outer image. Gatsby appears to be a popular individual. He throws lavish parties in whish anybody who is anybody is there. What people don't know is that Gatsby is a hermit during these gatherings. The truth is, he is mysterious. Rumors fly about him, and no one really knows him as a person. He surrounds himself with people to show Daisy how he is loved and respected. These people don't even know or care about Gatsby. In addition to his secretive ways, he possesses a high amount of generosity. He willingly provides his house for extravagant get-togethers and replaces a dress ruined at one of his parties. Jay longs to display his wealth. He is most likely the most hospitable person in both East and West Egg, reflecting his yearn to impress Daisy and win her affection. Gatsby also exhibits strong signs of determination. His whole life belongs to the dream of having Daisy as his own. He is very ambitious and doesn't let anything get in the way of attaining his goals. .
While Jay Gatsby presented a cool image, he had one weakness, Daisy. He lived his life for her and kept his true self a secret while all the while showing generosity, hospitality, and ambition. He is never able to get to Daisy's heart before dying. .
