The Descent of Inanna

            
             In a good leader strength must reside. Inanna certainly has proven her strength more than once living up to the qualities of a true leader. Decisions must be made swiftly and without hesitant. No fear of failure and willingness to take risks. Inanna risks everything in her journey to the underworld in order to acquire wisdom necessary in becoming a great and fierce leader. A leader must succeed at all costs. Inanna with great prowess prepares herself for confrontation. Upon arriving at the gates of the underworld she bravely knocks and fiercely cries out to the gatekeeper. Steadfast and fierce a leader must be. Inanna is determined to succeed in her journey. She does not seem to believe in succumbing to anyone. Loyalty is another important quality. Inanna shows this by refusing to give up certain people to the galla in taking her place in the underworld. The ones who have stood by her faithfully will earn loyalty. Dumuzi on the other hand does not seem to posses the qualities of a good leader. He seems selfish. He was not prepared for confrontations. He pleads for help when Inanna gives him to the galla. Bravery and prowess do not emit from Dumuzi when faced with danger. .
             Inanna was smart enough to leave detailed instructions with her faithful servant Ninshubur in case she did not return. By doing this she provides a backup plan if she encounters any unforeseen situations. A quality of a good leader is to be able to look ahead and prepare for the unexpected. She is capable of delegating which is imperative of a leader. People will be willing to follow you if you can prove you are worth following. This will instill a loyalty in your people and enable a leader to command. Giving orders to your people when they resent you will usually bring disloyalty. She was cunning in getting herself through the gates of the underworld by stating she was there to attend the funeral rites. Inanna possesses an ability to portray herself cleverly in order to attain what she is after.
