Weep not child - Ngugi

"The time has come. Let my people go. We want our land. Now!" This is when the black people decide to go on a strike to demonstrate what they want. This incident is the turning point of the story because the political conflicts get stronger. This is because the blacks are tortured immensely; this is seen through the family of Njoroge who is the protagonist of the novel. Hence it is seen that political conflicts make up the basis of the plot. .
             .
Cultural conflict is also very apparent in the novel, as it is closely related to political conflict. Cultural conflict makes the story extremely interesting, as it shows the different cultures of different societies, and about how each of them feel about each other. The author introduces cultural conflict not only between the blacks and whites, but also the Indians. "You could never like the Indians because their customs were strange and funny in a bad way" . The Africans did not like the Indians because they abused the black women using dirty words, and they also thought Indians were cowards, as they did not want to fight the British. The author shows us that parents influence their children in a strong manner, as to how they should treat certain people. Nyokabi certainly symbolizes this type of parent. "Are you greedily taking anything you"re given by anyone, even by a dirty little Indian?" This shows how culture affects characterization, as Nyokabi is a black woman who hates Indians. Whereas her son, Njoroge does not find it wrong to be friends with an Indian, here a conflict in family relationships is noticed. .
The Whites are hated even more than the Indians, as they are taking over the land, which belongs to the African people. In African culture the land is the most important thing to them, it is also revealed that God gave this land to them, and they must retrieve it from the Whites, who have forcefully occupied their land. Cultural conflict plays an important part in the novel because it highlights the feelings among the characters in the novel, and they further develop the plot.
