Everybody has different views on what they believe is an American. The dictionary defines an American as: Of or relating to the United States of America or its people, language, or culture. I think that America is a great place and I am proud to be an American, and in this essay I will demonstrate what I believe an American is. .
One of the things I find greatest about our country is our freedom. We have so many freedoms that other countries do not have, that I think we take for granted. We have freedom of press, speech, religion . Etc. I don't think that many people living in this country realize our freedoms and I don't think that a lot of people would know that we have these freedoms until they were taken away from us. .
America is known as one of the most powerful countries in the world. We have many powerful leaders, a very strong military, and a powerful government. I think that because of our power we are able to keep the freedoms that we have and have the sense of security that we feel. I think that it takes a strong person to hold a country together. .
Another thing I love about America is the unity in our country. When times are rough I think that Americans stay close and help each other. I think our country would be powerless and we would lose our freedoms if we didn't all stand together. There are few exceptions but for the most part the patriotism in our country is great.
In conclusion I think that America is a great country. With these few things it makes me be proud to be an American. I think a great example of our patriotism was what happened on Sept. 11. At times when Americans and America needed the most help millions of people worked together to help those in need. America is and always will be a part of all of us. .
