This movie is about a family of four brothers which are requied to go to war. The movie began during D-Day, in which many soilders were killed on Omaha Beach. Their landing on that beach was only to fall in the hands of the enemy. There was choas, people killing one another and during this two of the brothers were killed. Another killed while on duty in also. While the mother of the sons recieves notices of her three dead sons, General Marshall sends out Capt. Miller and seven other men. Capt. Miller was ordered to go behind enemy lines on a PR mission to find and bring back the youngest of four brothers, Ryan. The only surviver of the brothers, the others were killed in action within days of one another. Capt. Miller hand-picked his team, six men who have served with him throughout the war and a translator who has never been in battle before. On their search for Private Ryan the group of eight faced many dangers. Some were as bad as the landing on the beach, but in small towns. Along the way one of the men was killed by a German snipper. Still Capt. Miller and his men continued with their search of Ryan, and their own survival. One day by chance Capt Miller finds Ryan. But Ryan would not leave his post and his friends that gave their lives to defend it, even after finding out what happened to his three brothers. He beleives he doesn't deserve to go home and wants to complete his last mission which is to supervise a significant bridge on Merderet, until the American reinforcements come. Capt. Miller decides to stay with his men and help Ryan. As to his order to return Ryan to the States. Miller feels that Germany will attack before the renforcements get there. They try to strengthen the city for any enemy attacks. A big fight occurs while others left in the group keep dying off. When you think Germany might kill everyone, allied planes make flee attackers. Of the eight men to search for Ryan only two managed to draw some.
