Novel study (the alchemist)

TITLE: the alchemist's book title has everything to do with the book and its content. The book is about a boy, who is on a path to alchemy, .
BEGINNING: the beginning of the story is kind of a lead up into the mainline. The beginning of story is when Santiago (the main character) realizes what he has to do and how he has to get there. .
I am not quite sure if the author thinks that background information is important but he does give a little bit of insight on who, what, where, when, and how Santiago cam to be.
POINT OF VEIW: The author tells the story as if Santiago had told him the story.
I think that saying it in first hand experience is better than saying it in second hand or even third hand. Because you know the feelings and thing that are going through Santiago's head it will make it more interesting and enjoyable for the audience to read and interpret. .
I think that Paulo Coelho seems like he has certain closeness to his characters just because of the words he uses to describe their feelings and actions. .
STRUCTURE AND UNITY: yes! The main plot line does stick to one certain theme, but in some minor few cases if goes a bit off topic or the author, Coelho throws in a twist.
The book is divided into parts. It breaks up the material in a sense that in one part he is a Shepard and in the other he is traveling without his sheep. .
TIME AND ORDER OF EVENTS: the story is told chronologically.
I think that the author told the story this way because the story is a bit confusing and has many different parts to it that would be confusing if he did not put it in order. .
Yes the author uses flashbacks or dreams; I think he sues to them to remind past events and to also link them to future ones.
SETTING: Yes the setting is appropriate for the novel. I think that the setting is decorative. .
IMAGERY AND SYMBOLISM: the image that reoccurs throughout the novel is the image of rock turning into gold. I believe the significance of the rock turning into the gold is showing that Santiago is the rock and in the end of the story he turns into gold.
