A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

            This part of the book was quite confusing to me at first but as you slowly get some of the villanelle, it all starts to make sense. The author is not being forced to write anything. That morning he wakes up and something has come to him. Something happened during his sleep that had aroused these fantastic senses that are needed to flow together the lines of poetry. Now the poem comes easily and fluidly. There is no forcing of lines and there is no hesitance of rhythm. It's all flowing together like a small stream during a warm spring day.
             .
             I also like how during the story the author goes into detail on how he had come up with the lines. He describes how he and thought up the lines and why they are present. To me as a young writer things don't always flow together as the things that we read. I sit there wondering why I can't write something as fluent as others. I wonder what that they are thinking and why I am not. This piece gives a small insight on what your mindset should be while writing poetry. There should be none. You have to want to write things for them to come out they way you want them to.
             Lastly I've wondered of the mindset of a good poet. I think this piece of the book reveals what you must do to enjoy writing good poetry. You must do nothing. You must enjoy what you are doing in the first place and take it from there. You have to be very open-minded and don't be afraid to wonder off the beaten path. Be unique. No one in poetry will kill you if you"re different. It's your own expressions. Feel free to express them anyway you feel fit .
