Movies in 2004

Last time I checked the listing for supply and demand, I was startled to see that going to the movies was in the top 10. Now if this would've been 6 years ago then I would probably agree, but is it really worth the eight dollars. I remember just a few years ago when you and a date could eat popcorn, drink cokes, and watch a movie for a ten dollar bill. Now on average it will cost anywhere between 25 and 35 dollars. Now is that not ridiculous. I guess you have to ask yourself this question. Is it really worth it? I think the movies and the food and drinks at the movies are extremely high and unnecessary. Why not wait until it comes out on DVD or VHS? Why not invest in a surround sound stereo system for your home? If you are a big fan of the movies than sit down at your desk or table and calculate how many times you go to the movies in a month and see what kind of figure you get. I bet it's not a satisfying number. Now figure it up for the year. Ugly isn't it? Can you imagine 5 years or even 10? You would save hundreds and hundreds of dollars watching your VHS or DVD at home with a new stereo system. It puts you in the movie just as well as the stadium seating does. The only disadvantage would be having to wait for the movie to come out on DVD or VHS. But if it saves you money than don't you think it's worth it? Plus you get the advantage of watching the movie in the own privacy of your home. I"m not saying that going to the movies is bad, but putting it in your schedule as a weekend thing or putting it in your budget could only hurt you financially in the long run.
