The Second Amendment:

            The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads as follows:.
             "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." .
             But what does it actually mean in this day and age and did the framers of the Constitution intend for this particular passage to be interpreted in a simplistic manner and to be rendered down to the simple yet highly debatable words "the right to keep and bear arms"?.
             When the founding fathers of the United States set out to create a nation they did so with the hopes and dreams that their country would be unequalled in the eyes of their former masters and the rest of the world. Yet they were also spurred by the fears of common men seeking freedom from persecution due to their beliefs, ideals and their way of life. So they also set forth to create an institutional framework in which all men could seek solace and rely upon to guide their way into the near and distant future. .
             The resulting document was the United States Constitution, yet they were far from done with it and although over 220 years of history has passed by since the United States first became an independent nation little has happened on the particular issue of the Second Amendment. In total there have been twenty-five amendments added to the Constitution, this was done in order for it to adapt to the time of today, yet it seems as if this particular amendment has slipped through the cracks and needs to be revised in order to better serve the people in this day and age. .
             The reason for the existence of the Second Amendment is that the founders were wary of their previous master's behaviour towards those that would oppose them. Besides, they had just fought a war to cast off the shackles of George III and his cronies in order to claim " Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". They reasoned that nevermore should such a thing come to pass when a tyrannical government would seize power and wrest it away from the people.
