The Atkins Solution

The majority of diets that people go on these days clearly not working and the statistics prove it as the number of overweight people climbs by the day. .
There is no questioning that obesity has become an epidemic in America with a staggering 2/3 of adults being overweight and astonishing 1 in 3 Americans diagnosed as obese, but how far are those who wish to shed the pounds willing to go to achieved their ideal weight. .
The Atkins diet has proved that millions of Americans would be willing to cut carbohydrates completely out of their daily eating habits (for a certain amount of time at least). This means no bread, no soda, and no candies or snacks that are high in sugar. The concept of the diet regimen is pretty basic, you can eat all the protein you want as long as you avoid carbohydrates. For people on this diet, fatty meats, that were considered off limits by just about every diet that came before the Atkins are perfectly alright in daily meals. An example is bacon and eggs for breakfast, without out a roll of course. It used to be widely believed (and arguable still is) that this was an unhealthy start to the day, but for many dieters, the old fashioned breakfast has become a helpful meal that helps lose the weight. .
The idea is that high protein foods such as meats and fish fill people up for longer periods of time and incur positive changes in the body's blood fat. A recent study conducted at the University of Pennsylvania under PhD Gary Foster followed two groups of different dieters for one year. One group used the Atkins plan and the other used the opposite (high carbs/ low fat). Foster and his colleagues expected to see the negative effects of the Atkins diet first hand and finally prove that the diet caused more harm than good in helping people with obesity. The results however, told a different story all together. People on the Atkins diet actually had higher HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and lower levels of fat building triglycerides than that of the people on conventional diet plans.
