Philosophy Essay

In this world, it is very hard as a group to agree exactly on what is morally right or wrong. As a society over the years we have all tried our best to present a standard and have based it on some form of general knowledge. But not all societies in this world agree with each others, as I will discuss, why? Mill is one person who gives his outlook on Utilitarianism and I will contrast it with Ross's outlook on it as well. .
Each society in this world is different for several reasons and you can't find societies with the exact same moral beliefs. The factors that a society says is morally right range from cultures, religions, rituals, government, and so on. For example, suicide bombing to most societies is morally wrong, but some middle-eastern societies believe it is morally right. Some Muslims call it a Jihad which is killing an infidel against their Koran and it makes a suicide bombing morally right for their society, while other societies believe it is murder, thus being morally right in some middle-eastern countries, regardless of individuals for or against it in a society. Those standards are all formed through some form of general knowledge. They have used their religious scriptures such as "The Koran," justice groups led by leaders, and the laws in that society.
That is a strong basis on how a society is structured and how the standards are created in this world, today. Many times societies are revolutionized by certain people and their outlook on theses standards. The most common way those standards are shown are through books, writings, literature, or speeches. These are strong and evident ways to get one's idea across, whether it is morally right or wrong. A key example is Adolph Hitler, a cruel dictator, who nearly exterminated the Jew's. He rose to power through his intense and lively speeches of lies, as well as scapegoating, his book "Mein Kompf," and he won the country of Germany through those techniques.
