Camelot

During the role playing Camelot simulation many issues and policies were discussed and evaluated over and over. Of all the issues that were dealt with in the simulation, many of them were concerning the topic of conflict over land uses, between the public and local residents against the real estate developers and other types of entrepreneurs and businessmen. Two examples of this conflict over land uses in cities were main focal points in the simulation they were: The Downtown Hotel Plaza issue and The Massage Therapy Facility issue. Both of which were discussed and debated over and then taken before The Camelot City Planning Commission and from there they were taken before The Camelot City Council.
The Downtown Hotel Plaza issue involved the very influential and intimidating real estate developers and the concerned residents and parishioners of a local church which were concerned about the possibility of losing their church and the sacred burial grounds of their ancestors to the lucrative and profit driven development of a twenty story high rise building which would include a hotel in it. The reason that this was such a hotly debated matter was the fact that a church that could qualify as a historic landmark and cemetery that held the remains of many of the residents" relatives were both being thought of being removed and relocated in order to make way for the high rise building. So this issue brought up the moral question whether or not it was right to move and relocate a piece of history and the neighborhood just because a profit could be made by .
having this development. A "Save Pioneer Park" Committee headed by the minister was set up to preserve the park in its natural state. Which was also in question in this matter because this was where the cemetery and church were located. I took part in this issue because my role as a junior high school. I had a concern because my grandparents and great-grandparents were buried in the cemetery.
