Othello The Great

             Why do people manipulate their friends? (Roderigo) Is it still pertinent to our society? Perhaps relate it to a current media issue or a contemporary film where someone has abused a trusted friendship for personal gainif personal experience v/s do we tolerate or abuse fools/dupes?.
             Ideas.
             Friends are the easiest to manipulate if someone so wishes because.
             ?h Because they are friends one knows them so well so it is easier to see their strengths and their weaknesses.
             ?h Able to play upon these weakness and avoid their strengths.
             ?h Share close feelings of trust and experiences which will assist to gaining knowledge or position over them.
             ?h Friends often have common goals i.e. move in the same location and environment so they are in tune with where youre aiming too.
             ?h Because they are friends often have the same network which allows you to play off other members within the group.
             In the play Othello being black and a soldier is really ill at ease within the status he has been given. Iago on the other hand is very comfortable in his statue v/s he only wishes to rise higher so therefor it is easy for him to prey upon Othello.
             Prejudices and insecurities are matters of the heart not of.
             Geography.
             Not always lies but half truths v/s opening up the mind to possibilities v/s half asked questions .
             Iago is complimented on being an honest and noble friend.
             "one of the most tragic lessons of Othello is that it is those we love most who are most at risk when our ability to cope with the world is diminished, either through our own incapacity or the plotting of those who seek to destroy what they cannot have.".

             Is it pertinent to our society.
             Yes .
             Do we tolerate fools? No but they can be of some use to lighten an atmosphere- They help create an atmosphere of lightheatedness which often allows other characters to operate.
             Meticulous planning and scheming.
             Subtle.
             Superior.
             Do we really know those closest to us v/s are there not many sides to a person be they not all good nor all evil.
