pip in great expectations

In Great Expectations the main character is Pip, he is a humble, hard working, boy who was orphaned by his parents and trying to find his place in the world and in that world's society. Throughout the novel Pip grows up both physically and mentally, this however, could not have been done with out the help of the four people that changed Pip's life, Able Magwitch, Ms. Havisham and Estella, and Joe.
Able Magwitch changed Pip's life because he became his benefactor and was the one who had him sent to London. None of this would have happened however if he hadn't had met Pip by Pip's parents grave. Magwitch gave Pip the life he never had, the life Magwitch should have had before he lead to a life of crime. Pip had all the things he could ever have hope for in his new life in London, except his old life and the people in it. .
Like Able Magwitch, Ms. Havisham and Estella both played a major role in Pip's maturing throughout the novel. Ms. Havisham raised Estella to hate the male sex and to seek revenge on it, Estella did this to Pip and caused him great grief. Pip went to London with hopes that he could become a gentleman and impress Estella. Although he never ended up with Estella he did end up hurting a lot of people he cared about. .
Although he forgot about his family and friends due to Estella, but throughout all his ordeals he never forgot about Joe. He treated Joe very poorly when he was in London and finally realized after all that time that he was being a stuck-up, snob. He feels guilty when Joe takes care of him when he is ill; this is Great Expectations as a whole. Pip wants to do things he hasn't done and become someone he's not, only to find he had a better life when he didn't want as much. .
These four characters help Pip to find who he truly is, and who he truly wants to be. Great Expectations is about everyday life and how lives little opportunities no matter how small they may be, should be take, but with caution.
