I am an Emergency Medical Technician, otherwise known as, an ambulance attendant. I have taken a class and am certified by the state department of health. I am learned in patient care and carry a vast spectrum of knowledge regarding the illnesses and injuries that I encounter in my field. I live close to the fire department and am alarmed whenever an emergency occurs. My job is very important: I think of myself as a traveling doctor, able to reach patients and service them with immediate care. I receive a wide variety of calls from nosebleeds to chest pains, in all kinds of patients. I give my patients reassurance until they can be brought to the hospital. I often assist my patients in the ambulance on our way to the hospital. There, I will talk to the doctor in the ER and he or she will take it from there. However, it is my responsibility to give the necessary information and background for the doctor to properly address the patient's conditions. .
In the case of Brandon's car crash, with such serious injuries, efficiency and accuracy were of extreme importance. I arrived at the site of the crash just after the police and fire department. As soon as I got there I knew just what kind of situation we were dealing with. I had seen cases like this all too many times: a drunk driving accident. This kind of accident is often extremely serious, and in many cases, results in death. For Brandon, fortunately, he survived, but not without a lot of help. We first had to remove Brandon from the car. After doing this, I stepped in to assess the damages done to Brandon. He had suffered numerous injuries from the impact of the crash. Beyond the cuts and bruises, it was clear that there was severe organ damage. Brandon was internally bleeding and needed to be taken to the hospital immediately. We rushed him into the ambulance and begin our trip. Brandon had also suffered horrible injuries on his head. There as no way that he would come out of this crash without major mental illnesses.
