Othello's Iago

             Topic Sentence: Through The 3 motifs of the play, Iago has the ability to manipulate and hurt other characters for his own personal gain.
             Thesis Statement: Iago is able to manipulate the other characters of the play because he is a villain who doesn't understand the morals of society.
             Directional Sentence: Iago uses jealousy, judgment and deception to manipulate whoever he wants, to get what he believes is rightfully his.

             n Jealousy is a emotion which everyone has felt at some point in their life, you envy someone because they got a new car or a raise at work and you wish you could have what they have.
             n Iago is a very jealous character.
             n He wishes he were more like Cassio.
             n Iago is jealous of Cassio because he got the position of lieutenant that Iago wanted.
             n Iago is jealous of Cassio because he is so handsome and well respected and could get any woman he wanted.

             Because of Iago's jealousy of Cassio he is able to manipulate him for his own personal gain, this shows that Iago does not care for the morals of society.

             n Iago judges Cassio to be unqualified for the position on lieutenant that he was given.
             n This drives Iago to manipulate Cassio and make him lose his job.
             n Iago judges women as being hussies and sexual objects.

             Iago's judgmental character allows him to manipulate the other characters of the play to get what he wants, and because he is the villain, he doesn't see that by the morals of society what he is doing is wrong.
