Brazil


            Brazil is located in South America and is the only country in this continent which Portuguese is the official language. Brazil is also the richest country in the continent. It has more than one hundred and seventy million inhabitants. Brazil has twenty six states which are located in five different regions. Since Brazil is a huge country, the climate varies according to each region. Rex A. Hudson notes that "Although 90 percent of the country is within the tropical zone, the climate of Brazil varies considerably from the mostly tropical North (the equator traverses the mouth of the Amazon) to temperate zones below the Tropic of Capricorn - The main cities are Sao Paulo, one of the biggest in the world; Rio de Janeiro, very famous by its beautiful beaches; and Brasilia that is the capital city.
