             The grandmother is very significant to the story "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" because her character represents the quiet dictator that reflects the sarcasm in the story. She demands respect from adults alike, which has the effect of making them seem and feel like children. To the point of over-exertion, younger males even made the extra effort to stand up when she entered the room to gratify.

Not only that, but she was perfectly content just knowing that she got exactly what she wanted out of the family before she no longer had control.
