Should handguns be banned in the United States?.
The view of gun control has never been so finely magnified. The right to bear arms has been contended with the high rate of violence. Many gun holders have stood their grounds in organizations that promote ownership. Others opposed to the use of guns have made themselves perfectly known. Although the facts play an important role, the idea of banning guns is also a highly opinionated belief.
Handguns were first invented in the 1500s out of mere practicality. The intent to produce a highly baneful weapon for the masses was not present in the production of the gun. The gun has evolved over centuries into a device of war. It was used to fight wars for governments and for the local drug dealers trying to stop atop. Who knew that eventually 6 year olds would be using these weapons against each other?.
The Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution states, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." (US Constitution, amend II) This has been claimed as an irrefutable reason to stand strong for guns. People have stated this right for years as a defense.
People have also formed groups that help to unify gun owners. The National Rifle Association is one such group. This group has boldly stated that they will never .
give up their guns. Charlton Heston, president of the NRA, held meetings in Columbine, Colorado and Flint, Michigan. Their pro-gun rallies have been held all over the continental United States in attempts to get more to join. The NRA also devoted more money to gun awareness for children than any other organization.
Local militias have not been uncommon in the mid-western United States. The general population of the town had the ability to sign up for a local protection group. This is where people get together to practice their gun firing skills in order to better protect their community.
