The psychology of sports

The psychology of sports is not a new area. Studies first began in this area around the 1930's. The mind of an athlete simply impressed and amazed scientist. The mind of an athlete is completely different from the mind of an ordinary person. Scientist spent their research time on the motor aspect of athletic psychology. However, with the change of time, there was a change of study. The thought process of an athlete goes much deeper than what the early studiers ever imagined. It branches out into a social study and behavioral. Because of these new found areas of athletic psychology, there has been much new development of different theories. Today, research continues.
             Introduction.
When we sit down to enjoy our favorite sporting even, it probably never once crossed our mind about the athlete's background. We could care less. Now, take the opportunity to wonder where exactly Allen Iverson came from. Where did Derek Jeter really grow up? What did Summer Sanders have to overcome to get where she is today? The same wondering was done by me. However my thoughts veered from the norm. I begin to think about the measurements of an athlete's success. Is an athlete's success determined by their background? Many times athlete's documentaries have been broadcast on television, and each time the documentaries mention the athlete's struggle to get out of their environment.
For my own satisfaction, I conducted a small research to see how many athletes actually came from lower to middle class homes. The number was amazing. This led me to believe a number of things. Athletes from lower and middle class households excel more in athletes than athletes from upper class households. Not only do athletes from lower and middle class household hold a physical advantage over athletes from upper class household, but there is a mental advantage as well.
             Research.
To begin the research, a more thorough research was done on athletes.
