Bonnie and Clyde

In the 1920s and 30s the Great Depression made it hard for people to keep their property. Their crops started to become worth nothing and because of that they couldn't keep up with their payments. The bank would foreclose and take their property.
Bonnie and Clyde were popular for numerous reasons. Mainly, because they rebelled against the government and banks. People felt powerless but the Barrow gang seemed to have a lot of power and control. They were also popular because of how they escaped from policemen most of the time. Bonnie and Clyde were two of the most notorious criminals during the Great Depression.
A lot of people think Clyde's criminal life started when he was younger. Clyde's sister thinks he started becoming a criminal because of the lack of discipline. Clyde was born to Henry and Cummie Barrow in Telice, Texas, one of eight children. His father was a farmer, bringing his eight children up by poverty. When he was young he started playing and naming guns. He then got a taste of music and stole a saxophone. His first crime was stealing turkeys, and that started his criminal life.
Soon his family became unable to afford the farm and had to move to the poorest area in West Dallas. When he went to Cedar High he played hooky most of the time and therefore didn't get a real education.
Bonnie Parker was born in Rowena, Texas in 1910. Her father died just four years after her birth, leaving her mother to take care of three children by herself. The family later moved to West Dallas to live with her grandparents. Her grandparents then helped her mother raise the three kids. There bonnie went to cement city high. There she won numerous awards for her poems, drama and spelling. Her dream career when she was younger was to become and entertainer.
In high school she was very popular with boys, therefore at age 16 Bonnie got married to Roy Thornton, who at the time had a criminal record. It didn't last very long, because she was devoted to her mother, which he did not like.
