aesthetics

The way Americans spend their money solely depends on how aesthetically pleasing the product is. Americans buy aesthetics to give them the comforting feeling that they have the best product money can buy. It is astonishing that people are willing to pay substantial amounts of money just to feel as if they are aesthetically perfect.
Most Americans care too much about their image. So much so that nobody has the guts to make their own decisions anymore. The American way of living is like one big game of follow the leader. For example, as soon as Starbucks had a certain number of customers, the prices were slowly jacked up. This inflation of the prices only made the people want the coffee more, because expensive means better right? Today people don't even question paying $5.00 for a cup of coffee, however, less than five years ago a cup of coffee over $2.00 seemed unheard of. So why do people pay so much for a simple cup of coffee? Because having the Styrofoam cup with eh Starbucks" logo printed on the outside gives one the comforting feeling that he has the best coffee money can buy.
Another example of aesthetic pleasure is seen in every big city across the United States. Take for example Los Angeles, when driving down the freeway; you would notice that about every three cars on the road are classified as sport utility vehicles. The aesthetic pleasure in having a gigantic car, such as a hummer, is unbelievable for Los Angeles residents. I find it compelling that these people need vehicles that are able to climb mountains, go through swamps, and four-wheel rocky and steep hills. .
It is obvious that aesthetics play a part in the way Americans spend their money. Having a product that is aesthetically pleasing is important for every American to consume. These items give Americans the relieving feeling that they have the best product money can buy. Without aesthetics, companies such as Starbucks and Hummer would not thrive as well as the have.
