The must-have accessory for th

Martin Cooper invented and patented the first ever cellular phone for the Motorola company. The first functioning prototype cellular phone system was not created until 1977, when AT&T Bell Labs constructed the device (History of ). In 1983, the first American commercial analog cellular service was offered to the citizen's of Chicago.
The devices that were created by Dr. Cooper and built by AT&T functioned on geographic regions that had been broken up into cells. This was how the term "cellular" came into use. The first services offered for cellular phones used analog signals to transmit information. Analog signals operate by transmitting continuous streams of waves. When a cellular phone customer turns on their phone a signal is sent, which identifies them as a customer than searches for a free channel to place their call. Analog operates at 800 MHz the more commonly used form of cellular signal is PCS, or personal communications services which transmits at 1850 MHz (Oblivion). This newer digital technology operated by sending out pieces of the wave or "bursts of data". The emergence of digital technology proved to only boost the demand for this innovative technology.
The extended future of cellular technology and wireless services is relatively unknown. There are several individuals who have insight on its immediate future; Martin Cooper, the inventor of cellular phone, is still not satisfied with his work. His dream is for the phone to be, "so small that it fits behind a person's ear, automatically dials out when he thinks about calling someone and it notifies him of incoming calls with a tickle instead of a ring" (Wired.com). Cooper realizes that his asperations are still very far in the future, but we have already seen hints of his dream in today's cell phones. The head set has become the new trendy toy acessory for the cell phone. This hands free tool allows individuals to voice dial numbers and speak hands free.
