A Doll's House Review

A Doll's House is a play that describes how the main character, Nora, tries to figure out her true self. She goes through many challenges and tries to block out what is really going on. In the end, she finally notices how she really feels. I think this book has many parts that I enjoyed, but also had some components that I didn't like.
One of the reasons I liked this play is because Nora kept lying which helped me to anticipate what could happen next. For example, when Nora ate the macaroon in the beginning of the play I had no idea how Torvald would react if he caught her. It gave the play some suspense because Nora kept getting herself caught up in lies. Another reason why I liked this play is because money helped to foreshadow many situations to the reader. For example, Torvald tells Nora how he doesn't appreciate how she spends all of his money. This leads to other quarrels throughout the play about how Nora spends his money, and what she does to get more money from him. .
A reason why I didn't enjoy this play is because Nora just leaves her family after she figures out who she is. I don't think it's right for her to do that because she has children, and not just a husband. I think Torvald deserved at least a second chance. He described how sorry he was, and offered to change for her. Nora was too stubborn and only wanted it her way. Another reason I didn't like this play is because the ending didn't resolve too much. It only described how Nora found out who she was and then left Torvald with her children. I think the play should have gone on for another act describing where Nora went and what she wound up doing. Also, it should describe how Torvald dealt with her actually leaving him.
I think this play was both good and bad. It showed how Nora changed how she felt about herself. Also, it described how Torvald reacted in awkward situations, like when he read the letter from Krogstad.
