The Recruit

The recruit is an action packs thriller with a sense of realism that questions the reality of what you think you know about America's secret forces. There are many keys that make this a good movie. Colin Farrell's, character is young and out to prove something. Bridget Moynahan, is or isn't his love interest. A major key is Al Pacino; he keeps you guessing throughout the entire film.
Al Pacing (Walter Burke) delivers himself as a father figure type person toward James Clayton. He plays on that characteristic to recruit James into the CIA. Al doesn't trust anyone, for obvious reasons. Being in the CIA comes with a lot of prices to pay. Walter Burke has a past with the CIA. From the beginning you wonder why he came to James Clayton to recruit him.
Colin Farrell is James Clayton who is a student at MIT, who is a very intelligent and somewhat confused young man. He doesn't know much about his father, but the only idea he has about his father is that something doesn't quite add up. He is almost silently searching for answers surrounding his father. He believes that Walter Burke may hold those answers. There is a twist though. He is also infatuated with Layla, another recruit who is smart and intriguing.
Not much is said about Bridget Moynahan who is Layla in the movie. She is undoubtedly smart and cunning. She is also infatuated with James to some degree. That infatuation leads to an interesting storyline in the movie, not to mention a very unexpected ending. Never the less, she is a trust worthy confidante. Or is she. Those questions are what make this movie a must see.
It is action packed, and leaves you guessing right up until the very end. I will watch any movie that has that demographic involved. So many different keys make this movie good. The fact that a lot of this movie is based on a real idea, an idea that can neither be confirmed nor denied, just accepted. I give "The Recruit," two thumbs up.
