beowulf

Beowulf, written in Old English sometime before the ninth century A., describes the adventures of a great brave warrior of the sixth century. Beowulf is the oldest surviving epic in English literature and was first written in old English. This book contained many tribes called the Danes, the Geats, The Swedes, the Frisians, and the Jutes. .
In all honesty, I can say that I really liked this book. It should how great worriers and be such a**holes. The whole time while he was in Heorot, all he was trying to do was to show everyone that he is the best and no one can survive without him. Beowulf indirectly killed most if his people just to show how brave he is. One example if this is when grendal come into the meadhall and tries to eat up the sleeping Danes, Beowulf could and should of stopped grendal before but he didn't. Beowulf let grendal eat a few people before he stepped in to show that if he's not there, they will all die. In his second battle, Beowulf goes and fights grendal's mother who has came to avenge her son's death. The mother comes into the meadhall, eats many people and then goes into an underwater cave. Beowulf knows that grendal's mother is in the underwater cave and the water has an unknown number is eels. Before Beowulf goes to fight the mother, he sends a guy to jump in first. When the guy dies, this will make Beowulf look braver to go into the water. HE JUST KILLED ANOTHER PERSON. I was glad to find at the end of the book that the Dragon fights and kills Beowulf. He deserves to die for all the people he killed just by showing off. So overall I really liked this book but hated a few points. The Scop (the Peoit) really messed this book up. He came out of nowhere just to tell his stupid little storys and people in the past. After reading the first flashback, I didn't want to read all the other flashbacks in the rest of the book. Well, I read this book and liked it, I give the book a B+.
