In the Harrison Narcotic Act in 1914 cocaine was made illegal. Later in 1985 crack cocaine was developed and became a major drug problem. .

             Short term affect of cocaine is that you feel a rush of pleasure and well-being, you also have more energy and are more alert. These affects were off quickly and you are left feeling low and in turn feeling that you need the drug more. As a result of this an addiction starts. Other symptoms are dilated pupils, mental alertness, temper increase and energy increase, a loss of appetite, faster heart rate and constricted vessels. .
