Defense

Have you ever played in an unorganized football game just to have fun with your friends? Well I"m going to talk about three major defense formations in an organized 8-man football game. On each formation, I will tell you what the jobs are of each of the front linemen. .
             .
The first defensive formation I will talk about is called 32-Regular. As you can see there three defensive linemen in this formation. The nose guards, (which is this one) job is fairly easy he just mainly rushes into the backfield trying to get to the person with the ball. He lines head up with the offensive center. The defensive ends (which is these ones) are a little different. These people line up on the outside of the offensive end. The number one job of this position is to hit the offensive end to the inside to the guard, then they are to not let anyone on the outside of him. If the quarterback on offense drops back to pass the ball down the field, the ends rush him trying to tackle him, which is called a sack. .
The next formation I would like to talk about is called Split-3. Just as the 32-Regular, there are three linemen. The nose guard does the exact same thing as in the 32-Regular. He rushes into the backfield looking for the ball. He lines head up with the offensive center again. The defensive ends line up on the inside of the offensive ends instead of on the outside. Their job in this formation is similar to the nose guard in this one; it is to rush into the gap between the offensive guard and the offensive end.
The last defense that I would like to talk about is called the 4-front. Unlike the last two that we have discussed, this one has four positions on the front line. There is not a nose guard in this one; there are two down linemen. They are lined up on the inside foot of the offensive guard. Their jobs are to rush into the backfield to the ball. The ends in this formation are almost exactly alike to the 32-Regular.
