What is the theatre about? Why do millions of people around the world go to the theatre to enjoy what the greatest playwrights and actors left behind in history? Theatre applies to our by making us feel and experience what we would not otherwise see in our busy lives. Theatre is a tool for intellectual enrichment. It enriches our mind It feeds our brain with pleasure and makes us think about the characters we see on the stage. One way or another theatre is a great intellectual experience.
One may argue what intellectual experience means. To me intellectual experience is the overall outcome of creative, analytical and psychological processes that happen in our mind as a result of stimuli. In theatre stimuli is a dramatic action on the stage. The outcome is a combination of these processes as a result of dynamic interaction in our mind. The join effects of the intellectual processes than create a synergy. It is important to keep in mind that persons need to be neither intellectually advanced nor educated theatre scholars to take a part in this processes. It happens in everybody's mind. Regardless whether we are playwrights, directors, actors or members of audience, all of us share outcomes of these processes. In other words we all share the great intellectual experience. .
We should understand that the members of theatrical production such as playwrights, directors and actors have different intellectual experience than the members of the audience. It is certain that my theatrical intellectual experience as a member of audience is different from intellectual experience of the playwright. That is because two of us seek different theatrical missions. My mission is to gain pleasure, intellectual enrichment and theatrical enjoyment of the plays I see, whereas playwright's mission is to present his thought and get that thought across to the audience. Intellectual processes of the playwright as well as other members of the production are associated with bringing the play to life.
