(3: 1) He earned the Medal of Honor for bravery and valor beyond the call of duty. Francis Currey had a day in his life that the toy company felt was worthy of the honor. I am going to inform you a little about the Medal of Honor the background of this ordinary man, and what extraordinary deeds he accomplished to earn the Medal of Honor. As I inform you about this great man, you will realize he did not win this medal, but that he earned it. First, what is this medal, and what do I mean by earning it? .
             2. In the early days of the Civil War, the Medal of Honor was designed to represent the valiant efforts of the Union Army, Navy and Marines. The Medal of Honor is the highest medal awarded by the United States to a single individual for bravery. It has only been awarded 3,428 times since it was established in 1862. The President, in the name of Congress, awards the Medal of Honor to a person who, distinguishes himself or herself at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty. The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his comrades and must have involved risk of life.
