Huckleberry Finn

Falling action- Huck goes to the Phelps place and is greeted by a woman that thinks he is her nephew Tom sawyer. Later on he goes into town to go meet the real tom sawyer. Huck tells him the plan and Tom goes along with it. Tom has to act like Hucks brother Sid while Huck acts like Tom. Huck tells him his plan to bust Jim out but Tom says it's to easy and complicates it. They start the plan, but it takes to long. Then one night a group of armed men attack the shack. Huck gets Jim out through a hole. While they are running Tom gets shot in the leg but they all make it back to the island where there canoe is. .
Conclusion- Jim insists that Tom see a doctor. So Huck goes to town to find a doctor and sends him to the island. The next morning Silas finds Huck and brings him back. Aunt Sally won't let him out to find Tom. Then some men bring in Jim wanting to hang him. Tom wakes up and says that Mrs. Watson let Jim free in her will. When they hear that they let him go and feed him. Huck gives him forty dollars for his troubles. Huck and Tom now want to go on an adventure out west.
Setting- The setting in Huck Finn is important because of Hucks situation with Jim. It is set in the mid 1800's in the south along the Mississippi River. The time is important because slavery was still legal and very popular in the south. This is a big deal because Huck is trying to get Jim free. My favorite quote is on page 215. It is " All right, then, I'll go to hell." That is my favorite because it is the turning point in the whole novel. He is saying that Jim is more important than going to heaven because he is a good friend and a better man. .
Characters- Pap is a scrubby looking man that is a drunk. He has been gone for a year and that is why Huck has to live with the Widow Douglas. He abuses Huck and takes his money for alcohol. .
The duke is a scam artist that is very clever and wily. He can lie to anyone about anything. He will do almost anything to make a quick buck.
