Many people are recognised today for leading a country to victory. The day that the people lead their country to victory is the day that is celebrated for many years later. A day in most countries that is celebrated for their victory is independence day. The French Independence is celebrated on May 30 of every year. This independence was fought in defense against the English in the early 1400's. A young courageous lady led France into a momentous victory at Orleans. Saint Joan of Arc was a simple, spiritual, peasant girl who led the French Army into a momentous victory during the Hundred Years" War, eventually, being captured and burnt by the English.

Growing up Joan of Arc was confident, obedient, and had a soft, loving heart. Joan grew up on a farm with her family. Since Joan's father was a farmer, she worked around the house doing all sort of dutiful works. She would do things such as weave, harvest, and tend the flocks. After all her works were completed Joan would go and play. Joan was liked by everybody because she was full of laughter. She would love to play, smile, socialize with others, pray, and do her duties. Joan went to church everyday. She frequently confessed her sins and went to mass daily. Showing love to everyone in church Joan gave flowers to the alters, candles for the saints. Her loving service was given to everyone. Joan would always grieve with the poor. She gave her bed in as a donation to the homeless. .
Joan's mother taught Joan certain Latin prayers by her mother. Joan's mother told her that the prayers being taught were the stories of some saints. Joan could not spend too much time studying these stories because she could neither read nor write.
At the age of 12 Joan started to hear voices and see visions of 3 saints. The saints were St.Michael, St.Catherine, and St. Margaret. These saints would tell Joan that when the time came she would go to the king and save France.
