Paintball Essay

             Gun ready fully alert, its all clear you see only your partner. Then all of sudden, you see movement to your right. You turn only to see paintballs coming at you. With a sudden surge you start to fly down the road legs pumping, heart racing, and to afraid to look back. You imagine paintballs hitting all around you. That is paintball.
             I remember when my dad would tell me how he and his friends would get their Beebe guns and shoot each other. However, as the years have progressed we no longer see teenagers out side shooting each other with Beebe guns instead paintball guns. Paintball was started in 1981. At the time it was called the survival game. Later on it was called paintball and was used a anti-communist tool. Paintball is dangerous due to the lack of protection. Somebody could get a Beebe in the eye and go blind. That could result in the parent or teenager suing the other teenager. Another problem with using Beebe guns is cheating. If somebody were hit there would be no obvious mark that all could see. And with today's clothing style it would be almost impossible. It is cool for today's teenagers to wear baggy clothes; this would make it harder for the Beebe to penetrate the baggy clothes. It also builds on the cops and robbers that we played as kids. I remember it was always a fight over who got shot first and who shot who. Now teenagers go out side and play paintball instead. Paintball is a much safer sport then using Beebe guns. They have masks that you can buy to protect your eyes, mouth, and throught. I usually wear a hat backwards to cover most of my neck and the top of my head. You can also buy armor to for your body as well as gloves for your hands. I wear two shirts and an army jacket instead of the armor. Another thing is that when you get it is clear unlike a Beebe hits. You see a big splotch where the paintball broke on them. Another aspect that makes paintball so popular is the customization aspect of the game.
