Socialism Vs. Capitalism

Another issue that is usually argued is that capitalism puts the emphasis on greed, which is allegedly a bad thing. The only problem with this argument is that money is our only measure of value, and without a standard of value, the value of work cannot be measured for the reward(s) to be given.
In contrast, a socialistic type of government is defined as " Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy" .
We have had the opportunity to witness, observe and analyze the consequences of socialism since its fall in 1989 during this generation. We have had a first hand opportunity to realize the ongoing failures of nations like Russia. Russia implemented socialism in 1917. The experiment turned out to be a fiasco that failed miserably leaving the government reeling under economic stress and political mayhem. .
Thus, personally I feel that a capitalistic society is a far better place to nurture, grow and prosper. The right to pursue one's dreams and ambitions are encouraged under this system. Even though both capitalism and socialism have their pros and cons, on weighing the odds I would rather place my bet on capitalism.
