Swingers

There are probably print ads of movie reviews, portraying 'Swingers' as a film about a bunch of suave, good-looking guys making the moves on "beautiful babies" (AKA women) in the night life of a what seems to be a fantasy land. However, male bonding may be the worst overrated of movie emotions. For instance, classic scenes like at the end of "Casablanca," which my grandfather would always make me watch with him, where Humphrey Bogart puts his arm around Claude Rains, made society accept the fact of guys hanging out with guys. The Miramax movie 'Swingers' grabs its audience with a diverse cast of main characters, creative humor, and clever dialogue.
First of all, the movie "Swingers" attracts its audience with a diverse cast of main characters. Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn are standouts in the cast. Favreau is appropriately "fumbling and pitiful" (Seiler) as Mike, and Vaughn seems "positively shark like"(Seiler) as the swinger with all the right moves. Mike, who is played by Jon Favreau, plays the role of an under employed standup comic who set out to Los Angeles to pursue his comedy career, pining for the girlfriend he left back East in New York. He is portrayed as an obsessive, self-pitying individual with a very low self esteem. For instance, during the movie Mike gets into an argument with a friend about how Mike will end up messing up the woman's' number he received that night. In response Mike suddenly gets up and leaves the group heading to his apartment. There he picks up the phone and makes several phone calls and leaves numerous voice messages, eventually ruining his chances when she finally picks up and tells him to never call him again. James said that "This is something where everyday people can relate. For instance, one night you are out with your friends you get a phone number and you just cannot wait to call." However, "If you chose to take that initiative too fast then you, as the movie quotes, 'scare off a beautiful baby who wants to party.
