The Ten Commandments

Should the Ten Commandments be allowed to.
be posted in public schools and courthouses?.
One of the most arguable topics debated during family dinners, as well as in the highest courts of the land, is the idea of separation of church and state. On one side people argue that religion is already a major factor in the state, and in many cases too involved. The other side debates that morality needs to be instated in the school system, and the best way to do so is to emboss religion in the schools. Many schools in the midwestern and mideastern states of America have gone through the legal system, and have fought hard, to keep the laws of the biblical text on the walls of their schools. In other cases, schools have fought and lost the battle. Courthouses that have had the Ten Commandments engraved in their beautiful walls have had to demolish the walls to remove the biblical reference, and others have had framed texts of the bible established in their courthouses (Teicher). However, the posting of the Ten Commandments can affect people and help increase their sens!.
e of morality if they are more familiar with them, but that can only happen if they are seen everyday (Johnson). Many people are visual learners and if the laws are posted in public areas people will learn from them. People also learn by repetition and the more they see them the more they will learn. Many have no doubt that the posting of the Ten Commandments could have helped prevent tragedies such as the Columbine shootings because they would have been taught morality in school (Kinney). If morality could be taught to the youth of the nation early in life then think how much better life could be for future generations. This biblical reference should be publicly posted in schools and courthouses, if not for religion then for the sake of the children and the years to come. .
Some people feel that by posting the Ten Commandments in public schools and courthouses we are crossing the line, and are involving too much church in the wrong places.
