What Is Freedom

Freedom means you have no one looking over your shoulder and telling you what to do as long as it legal. But does freedom really exist? Sure our country gives us the right to own a gun and have free speech, but are these freedoms getting taken away? Our country's policy is that you can live free as long as it does not infringe on anyone else's freedom, but in some cases we don't follow this policy. As Thomas Jefferson had once said "The natural progress for things is for liberty to yield and government to gain control". This quote by Thomas Jefferson is reality and will only become true as time passes unless we stand up and have them changed.
Our country's freedom of speech has lost its intended meaning. The first amendment of the United States Constitution was made so that citizens could say anything without being denied there right to say what they please. Our country has lost that intended meaning. No longer are we allowed to use our first amendment right to discuss or pray to God in a public school. Our country has lost that freedom as time has gone by. Also, government agencies such as the FCC censor television and tells what is allowed and not allowed on television. Having freedom to say or show whatever you want is denied here. The government's argument is that people don't want to view certain thing on television. That may be true, but there can be a warning for what is going to be on the show so it won't infringe on other people's rights. Having the government tell you what you can view and what you can say, goes against our freedom of speech.
Not only is the government taking over our freedom of speech, it is also taking over our right to own a gun. The second amendment of the United States Constitution gives Americans the right to own a gun. The government is trying to take away our freedom to own a gun. They believe that the right to own a gun is outdated.
