In Defense of Freedom


            
             Defending freedom is not something people have to do every once in a while, it is a task we should perform every day of our lives, and it is not an easy job. The members of In Defense of Freedom groups believe that every one should be held accountable for their actions: abide by the constitution, and not interrupt The American way of life. They suggest that as Americans we should practice freedom calmly and deliberately. Therefore, I can conclude that this group has civil obedience. .
             On September 11, 2001, there was a horrible attack on our free country by a group of terrorists. This changed everyone's outlook of Muslim people, and the way they are treated by others. We should not hold other Muslims accountable for the terrorists that attacked New York and The Pentagon. The Bush Administration has already convinced Congress to drastically expand law enforcement, authorization to conduct wiretaps, surveillance, and to detain immigrants as suspected terrorists indefinitely without probable cause that they have committed a crime (CCR 1). The terrorists who carried out the attacks must be the only ones liable not all Muslims. .
             As Americans we have are duty bound to abide by the Constitution. The FBI has to follow a set of rules as well, the Attorney General's Guidelines. These Guidelines define the powers of the FBI to bring investigations against Americans.
             Over thirty Civil Liberties Organizations has sent letters to the House of .

             Representatives and Senate Judiciary Committees urging prompt reviews of the Guidelines. Changes in the Guidelines will allow the FBI to engage in prospective searches in places of worship and the use of private-sector databases to detect criminal activity. This goes against our First Amendment freedoms of political and religious organizations (In Defense of Freedom 1). We must have faith in our Democratic system and our Constitution. As well as, in our ability to protect at the same time both the freedom and security of all Americans (2).
