What Is The Extent Of Lady Macbeth's Involvement In The Murder Of Duncan?

Both of these prophesies seemed ludicrous in his eyes and at first he didn't believe them for a minute because how could their first prophesy come true when the current thane of Cawdor was still alive. One of the witches then went on to say to Banquo:.
             "Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none".
             This prophesises that although Banquo himself will never be king, he will have two sons who will both be king. Then the witches vanish and Macbeth and Banquo are left standing there, wondering whether or not they had seen the witches let alone whether the prophesies will come true. They even joke as they ride off about Macbeth becoming king and Banquo's sons becoming kings. As they were chatting and laughing Rosse and Angus came riding towards them. Rosse and Angus brought news of the King's happiness at their recent victory and then the shocking news, the news that would change his life. They told him that he had been made thane of Cawdor. Macbeth could hardly believe his ears, everything which the witches had prophesised before had already begun to come true. I feel that this is the pivotal scene in the play. The question of whether or not the witches existed, whether or not what they said was going to come true despite any efforts he can make to alter the fate w!.

After Macbeth hears this news from Rosse and Angus he already begins to contemplate the murder of Duncan. This is an essential point to take into consideration as it shows that he had already thought of murdering Duncan before any influence from his wife had come into play. He says that however daunting the prospect may seem, he can't help but contemplate the possibility. He says that everything that he knows to be real is in fact worthless, and all that actually matters is that he achieves his goal, his fantasy of becoming king.
