             Under the Sheriffs department budget I found it really interesting in how must the budget had changed since last year. With the need for a new School Resource Officer (SRO) a large amount of the budget was affected by it. Though most of the finances were covered by the grant for the SRO lots of changes where made to accommodate for the officer. For instance with the new officer the Sheriff needed to provide a vehicle and a salary of $33,787. The grant covered not all the expenditures but was spread out enough to cover at least 35% on most things needed for the officer. Another thing I found out was that SLED was mandating a computer support system in all patrol cars that would control and observe sex offenders in the area; it is an increase of about $22,000. .
             In Victims assistance under the Sheriffs department, I learned a couple neat things about our Sheriffs department. Like that the Sheriffs department every year sets out for a grant in their travel fund for $535 so that four families can travel to Columbia for Victims week. Also that Greenwood County is looking for a Domestic Violence Investigator. I think taking from the meeting that he really didn't know how much he was going to pay the Investigator but as of right now had a $50k year budgeted. With that I believe he was planning on placing the Investigator in place of a new car, I believe that's how he came to budget in the investigator. After looking through the budget, they decided to subtract the $50 for the typewriter, because it was an item that was not needed.
             There was no real change in the Narcotic's division.
             In the Detention Center, it was always nice to know that juvenile incineration has decreased so the budget was dropped from $30k to about $12k. Again there was a typewriter expense for $70 that was taken off the budget. Something I did find very interesting is that the county uses the inmates that are skilled to do repairs around the county to cut costs down.
