In IVF if the sperm does not belong to the husband this is seen as adultery. Contraception cannot be used to kill baby girls because they have been viewed as less profitable in the past. This justifies the Muslim argument against abortion. The Encyclical Vitae Splendor is another Papal authority which expresses the Catholic Churches view against contraception. .
The Cardinal's attitude to homosexuals being refused communion in the article homosexual protest in June 14 1999 in the Catholic Weekly shows the Cardinal sees homosexuality in "defiance of the catholic teaching" It is "inappropriate and futile", It is seen as a "disorder" which the individual is not normally responsible for. It is seen as a trial for the person and an act of grave depravity" The Cardinal emphasises that under "no circumstances this can be approved". This shows the conservative view of the catholic teaching. Homosexuality is seen as unnatural and goes against the Sharia. The Sharia classifies behaviour for the Muslim people into three categories which are obligatory, permitted and permissible. .

However we live in a society where we have a growing acceptance and tolerance for those with an alternative lifestyle this is seen with events such as the Mardi Gra and anti discrimination laws. In the Sydney Morning Herald the Article Gay hate murders done as a sport 13 August 2002. The article brings forward the issue of the attitude towards homosexuals and whether the law is protecting them successfully. Gay people should not have to expect violence to affect their lives because of the lifestyle they chose to lead.
In the article "Plea for same sex marriages" in the Daily Telegraph, 20th August 2002 this article raises the issue of same sex marriages. The Marriage Act is now taking into account the great diversity in human relationships. It is aiming to protect all long term relationships.
To Muslims marriage is "half the faith the other half is patience".
